Gender violence

Why do we talk about gender violence?

Gender-based violence refers to any form of violence directed at a person because of their gender. In this case, gender is used in its original sense, meaning that it affects women.

The terms gender-based violence and violence against women are often used interchangeably because most gender-based violence is perpetrated against women by men.

It can occur in both the public and private spheres.
